Gotta agree with Scarecrow, while with 4 and 4A for me I began to enjoy the story more deeply the more I read and heard about it otherwise (though the game had a lot of story hidden in its nooks and crannies)...V was mostly just a disappointment personally. The graphics personally seemed worse than even 4 and 4A, the gameplay felt rather sluggish at times, and in the end what skill I had developed from 4 and 4A barely even helped. It has a ton of side missions, but the main story missions? You can finish those in about 2-3 hours. If you're unlucky, 3 and a half. I've not seen all the parts and everything else, but I'll definitely say that 4 and 4A very easily grab your abilities and make you use them. 5...I kinda ended up meandering about, somewhat developing the skills needed but...it's just clumsy, in a way, now.

Granted, 4 and 4A both have a very difficult thing about them too. As in the difficulty curve on the Hard mode ends up not only becoming a vertical line, but actually starts curving back around. Four high-powered ACs against just little you? Oh, and the fifth comes too!

yeah, 4 and 4A are good but I love Verdict Day more, ACs in V and VD are smaller like Wanzer with booster and gritty looks not just the AC but the maps too. You'll remember the feel from Armored Core 3 series unlike 4 and 4A where NEXT are shiny sportscar. Gameplay in VD seems better especially boosting around and multiplayer is improved they added ridiculous bosses in special sortie much harder than 5 vs 1 NEXT battle, final boss on VD is very memorable damn that badass soundtrack playing while fighting that very fast boss, I wish he's swinging the laser blade just like in special sortie during phase 2 that would be awesome.

Very nice. Reminds me of the final mission from Armored Core 5... Except better.

Was mildly disappointing with the game. Beat the story in roughly two nights. Should have been much longer and the story was extremely weak. I mean Armored Core isn't exactly known for having the best plots... But this was a dissapointment. Still like the game play and the multiplay mechanics... But still... The game should have been twice as long and they should have just discarded the plot they used and picked something less bland.

they were quite lazy with the game in its entirety, story and plot were weak compared to every AC before it. They didn't even improve on graphics, and kept the same and tired use of "bloom" lighting, which to be honest looks stupid. Its not all bad though, lets hope the "sequel" (5A? lol) does better.

Yeah. 5A better be freaking amazing. I liked the customized weapon system in 5 though. And the multiplay was fun. I liked the gameplay generally.

the game-play feels wonky, unlike the PS1/PS2 titles, which they attempt to siphon ideas from.
> Mobility in the air is extremely limited, and in most cases can leave you a sitting duck (levitating bull's eye).
> Customization on weapons is never the same on two of the same weapon customized for the same specialty, so you always end up with one "deus ex machina" and a "no.2". Which gets real irritating when you want to have two sniper rifles with similar upgraded stats , for one example I went through 20 of the same one to get somewhat "similar" results.
> Plot is extremely lacking, even in comparison to 2 and 2AA, in which most of it isn't very well explained, and whilst such a story telling method has worked for previous titles (AC3 AC3SL AC4/FA). It absolutely does not on this one
> There are several missions which even when completed perfectly (i.e. no damaged all sub-quests cleared {including speed-finish}) will still give you a less than "S" rank. Which is mind-bogglingly backwards.
> To compound this many missions are a sheer pain in the ass to attempt, not even Nineball or Nineball Seraph were ANYWHERE NEAR AS BAD. Most of these not even being "final" or "boss" fights to begin with.
> Lastly and perhaps my greatest qualm is that even with the massive budget they tossed into the multi-player and advertising side of the production, they completely ruined the way build's are supposed to work in AC. Whereas before defense ranked from Tanks > Heavies > Mediums > Lights. You now see a massive shift in which even a "light" can pack serious defense against a specific threat, and this whilst still retaining mobility, even heavies can get a move on. If anything only tanks miss out on mobility, and they cant even use the sniper scopes (even though they're TANKS). Basically anything that isn't a tank can turn like Char Aznable's Hyaku Shiki on steroids, which ruins the hierarchy of design philosophy's built up over the years (ignoring the gundam-esk capacities of ACFA).

In conclusion they need to get their heads out of their asses, re-work the weapons and armor systems, and ffs add more parts, 500 is pretty bad when half the parts look like another part. Multi-player has been rocky due to erratic server crashes (PS3) but overall its pretty fun, granted no one attacks my territories. So to recap, fix up SP and Garage/Customization/Armor, and maybe add a "Nineball" to the sequel. Or maybe a giant laser sword UW.

neither do I, because in most cases you dont get the chance. Not to mention all of them are pretty boring :.
